FRESNO, C.A. – The Laborer’s International Union of North America 294 (LiUNA) proudly endorses Esmeralda Soria for Congress, showing her strong support of working class people across the Central Valley.
LiUNA 294 represents 1,500 members across Madera, Fresno, Kings, and Tulare counties. Internationally, LiUNA is made up of over half a million members and represents over 70,000 public employees who provide critical services from health care and sanitation to road maintenance and emergency response.
“The Laborers’ International Union of North America 294 (LiUNA) is proud to endorse Esmeralda Soria for Congress. Soria has stood with our over half a million union members in advocating for good benefits and family-supporting pay. We are excited to support her bid for Congress and are confident that she will continue to provide opportunities for the advancement of our workers at the federal level,” said James Hammond, Business Manager-Secretary/Treasurer, Laborers’ Local 294
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Laborer’s International Union of North America 294 (LiUNA). On the City Council, I’ve been fighting to ensure that regular working class people across this Valley receive fair wages and good benefits in the workplace. I look forward to continuing this fight in Congress!” said Esmeralda Soria.
LiUNA 294 joins dozens of other unions in support of Esmeralda Soria for Congress, including SEIU and the California Labor Union. Soria is challenging a 12-year incumbent who has failed to receive the support from the majority of unions.
Esmeralda Soria is currently running for Congress in Congressional District 16, which covers Fresno, Madera and Merced County. She is on the Fresno City Council where she represents District 1. Esmeralda is fighting for health care for all, college affordability and campaign finance reform.
