FRESNO, C.A. – Esmeralda Soria’s grassroots campaign earns the endorsement of Democratic State Senator Anna Caballero (District 12), demonstrating tremendous support from local Democratic leaders across the Valley in her campaign for Congress.
“I am proud to support Esmeralda Soria because I know she will be a fighter for working-class families across the Valley,” said Senator Caballero. “She will be a champion on the issues of health care, clean drinking water and education. Her track record shows that she can get the job done.”
Senator Caballero was the first female Mayor of Salinas and previously a State Assemblymember. Last year, she was elected to the State Senate, flipping her district from red to blue.
“It is an honor to have earned the endorsement of Senator Caballero, who has been a champion on issues that affect the rural areas in the 16th Congressional District and across the Valley,” says Esmeralda Soria. “This campaign is about giving everyone a voice – not just the wealthy and powerful. I’m proud to have Caballero’s support.”
This endorsement comes after months of demonstrating strong Democratic and local, grassroots support for Soria’s campaign for Congress. Soria blocked the Democratic Party endorsement for her incumbent opponent and recently announced endorsements from multiple local labor unions, including IBEW Local 100, Sheet Metal Workers International Association 162, Carpenters 701 and Teamsters 431. Soria was also about to raise over $150,000 – 88 percent raised from individual donors.
